Relative Position: Art Installation Celebration

Our commitment to bringing art and creative experiences to Old Port Square continues with the arrival of Relative Position, a new temporary public art installation by Portland-based artist Josh Brill. Created in partnership with TEMPOart, the installation invites visitors to discover the Old Port's history in an unexpected way.

Building on last year's installation of Buoyancy by Margarita Jane Arguedas, this latest project transforms the stairway and surrounding spaces with interactive Morse code murals that explore the trials and triumphs of Portland's Old Port.We invite you to join us for a special celebration of the new installation, with an opportunity to hear directly from the artist and connect with members of the Old Port Square community.

When: Wednesday, October 21, 2026 | 4:30–6:00 PM
Where: 200 Middle Street, Old Port Square

Join us for light refreshments, brief remarks from the artist and project partners, and an opportunity to experience Relative Position firsthand. Please note that this will be an indoor/outdoor event pending weather conditions.
